“The Attorney’s Attorney”
“One of my most satisfying moments came early in my career. Six months after vigorously advocating, and ultimately successfully settling, a highly contested case, my opposing counsel called me to tell that he wanted me to represent him in a lawsuit. I told him you’re an attorney, you have several children that are attorneys – why do you want me? He replied, “I saw what you did in the case that we had together and I want you on my side.”
— Stuart Sandweiss
Stuart Sandweiss, C.P.A., Esq., President of Metro Detroit Litigation Group and the Legal Solutions Group is passionate about the people he represents and the cases that he accepts. For two decades, Mr. Sandweiss has zealously represented people in a wide variety of both federal and state court litigation cases – criminal, civil, tax, probate and bankruptcy. While some attorneys specialize in a particular practice area – Stuart Sandweiss focuses on litigation — the art of enforcing and/or defending legal rights – before, during and after a lawsuit.
Over the years both judges and opposing attorneys have praised Mr. Sandweiss for his vigorous and unrelenting advocacy. Recently an opposing attorney complimented him and commented — “he goes for the jugular and does not stop squeezing until there is no blood left.”

Just six weeks after receiving his license to practice law, a seasoned attorney retained Mr. Sandweiss as trial counsel for a week-long jury trial for a case in which the attorney was a party. When he called and asked Mr. Sandweiss to represent him he remarked – “I know you and I need you to win this case.” (Mr. Sandweiss went on to win that trial and the court ultimately awarded him sizeable attorney fee against the losing party).
Years later Mr. Sandweiss was again brought into a case as trial counsel — this time for a four-week jury trial between two automotive suppliers. During the trial Mr. Sandweiss spotted an issue and, in a short time found a way to knock out an over $1.2 million claim against his client. Later he used his skills as a CPA to analyze the numbers — ultimately convincing the jury to award his client over $8 million on a counter-claim. The jury verdict was later affirmed by the Michigan Supreme Court.
A second generation Detroiter, Stuart Sandweiss received his Juris Doctor degree in December, 1999, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School (“UDM”). While at UDM, Mr. Sandweiss received top honors, including several scholastic “book awards” in:
- Civil Procedure (the course that covers the mechanics of litigation);
- Advanced Legal Writing (the skill necessary for successful advocacy);
- Negotiations (the skill necessary for successful resolution of cases);
- Business Organizations (a skill necessary for business litigation).
Additionally, Mr. Sandweiss was a two-time Dean’s Scholar and was inducted into the Frank Murphy Honor Society. He also participated in Moot Court Competitions and was on the editorial staff of (and published in) the Michigan Business Law Journal, a magazine that is published tri-annually by the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Both prior to law school and since law school Mr. Sandweiss had considerable “real world” experience, graduating from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of General Studies in 1985, attending business school, and ultimately becoming a Certified Public Accountant in 1990. Since that time Mr. Sandweiss has owned and operated Sandweiss & Sandweiss, P.C., (a local accounting firm that concentrates on individuals and small businesses), as well as owning and managing a commercial maintenance company.
